Rain clouds cover the night sky.  It is raining hard, and has been for the past three hours.  It shows no signs of letting up.  There is a loud crash of thunder as lightning streaks across the sky.  A man stumbles down a narrow alleyway.  He is using the wall as support.  Under his long rain coat his clothes are soaked through.  His head is pounding.  He grabs his head and feels a stinging pain.  He pulls his hand back and looks at it.  It is covered in blood.  Although it would seem to make sense that it is his blood, he has a strong feeling that it is someone else's.  "Where am I?  What happened to me?"

He hears a voice from ahead of him.  "So there you are, Taylor."

The voice was male and sounds familiar, but it is somehow unsettling.  The man had called him Taylor.  The name does sound familiar.  However, deep down inside, he knows it is not his own.  He looks up to see who was talking.  The rain has caused the blood to drip into his eyes.  It has caused his vision to become blurred.  He can see two figures standing at the end of the alleyway.  Everything around him begins to spin.  Then, he collapses face first into a puddle.

He awakes in a bed.  His head still hurts.  The sun is shining through a window.  He sits up and looks around.  The room looks familiar, but he can't seem to remember from where.  There is a dresser with a mirror on top of it by the side of the door.  He gets up and goes to look at it.  He sees that his head is bandaged up.  As he looks at his face, he gets a haunting feeling.  It is as if he was looking at himself through a mask.  A sharp pain fills his head for a second.

He can hear footsteps approaching the door.  He quickly hides on the side of the dresser, putting it between him and the door.  The door opens.  He watches carefully to see who enters.  A young woman walks in.  She is not the most beautiful woman.  She looks rather plain, but there is an undefined beauty to her.  An innocence that is refreshing.  She walks over to the bed.

He comes out from hiding.  Her back is to him and she does not notice.  He asks, "Excuse me, but can I help you?"  The question isn't as much of a gentlemanly gesture as a trying to figure out why she is there.

She turns and looks at him.  There is sadness in her eyes.  "Taylor, I thought I had lost you."  She hugs him and holds him tightly.

He hugs her back to comfort her.  He wonders what would make her so sad and what had happened to him that he couldn't remember.  However, at the moment, none of those questions seem to matter to him because she is there.  That is all that matters.
